Who is Jesus?

What this page will explain

When the approved text is published, it will work through the Christian message in this order, in plain language, defining any Christian term the first time it is used:

1. Creation — what Christians believe about why anything exists and what human beings are for.
2. What went wrong — the Christian account of sin: not primarily rule-breaking, but a broken relationship with God that shows itself in how we treat each other.
3. Who Jesus is — his identity, his life, and the claims he made about himself.
4. His death — what Christians believe was accomplished at the cross, and why it is described as good news rather than tragedy.
5. His resurrection — the claim at the centre of the whole thing, and why Christians treat it as a historical question rather than a private feeling.
6. Grace — why Christianity insists this cannot be earned, and what that means if you have concluded you are beyond help.
7. Repentance and faith — what responding actually involves, described honestly, including what it costs.
8. New life — what changes, what does not change immediately, and what the first months are realistically like.
9. The Church — why Christians belong to local communities, and what a healthy one looks like.

Our commitments about how this is presented

These apply whether or not the text below is finished, and they are not negotiable.

• No pressure. There is no countdown, no scarcity, no "last chance", and no suggestion that leaving this page has spiritual consequences.
• No preselected response. Where you are offered a choice, nothing is ticked for you.
• No hidden cost of reading. You never have to give us your details to read, watch or listen to anything here.
• No manipulation of the vulnerable. We do not test different wordings on you to increase response rates. Our experimentation rules explicitly forbid running experiments on Gospel response, giving or pastoral need.
• Nothing you send becomes content. Nothing you submit is published, quoted, or turned into a testimony without your separate, specific and revocable consent.
• A button is not a conversion. We will never report a click as a person coming to faith. Where we publish figures, we publish the definition and the verification method alongside them.

If you are not ready to read this

That is entirely reasonable. Two other things exist on this site that ask nothing of you:

• Our editorial writing, which covers faith, work, money, technology and family without assuming you agree with any of it.
• Our prayer route, which you can use without believing anything in particular, and without giving us more than a first name.

Alternatives to reading

The approved presentation will also be published as video and audio, each with a full transcript and a plain-language written summary, so it can be used on a slow connection, with a screen reader, or by someone who would rather read than watch.
