Mentors and faculty

Become a mentor or faculty member

Read the expectations before the invitation. Mentoring people at a formative stage of their lives is a position of trust, and we would rather be clear about what that involves than recruit quickly.

Experienced and emerging marketplace leaders in a mentoring discussion.

Current status

Register your interest

After you register: someone from the programme team contacts you within five business days to begin the conversation. Registering interest is not an appointment.

What we are looking for

Mentors walk alongside a small number of participants over a cohort, offering perspective from their own field and their own walk with God. Faculty teach modules, develop curriculum and assess candidates.

In both cases we are looking for people with genuine depth in a field, an active and accountable faith, and enough self-knowledge to be useful rather than impressive.

Expectations

Doctrinal alignment

Agreement with our statement of faith once adopted. Until then, we will discuss doctrinal position directly with candidates rather than asking anyone to sign up to a document that does not yet exist.

Church accountability

Active involvement in a healthy local church, and a leader there who knows you well enough to give a reference.

Experience

Substantive experience in your field — typically a decade or more — and the ability to explain how you actually decide, not only what you achieved.

Safeguarding

Acceptance of our safeguarding policy, completion of required training, and appropriate background checks where the role requires them. This is not negotiable and not waived for seniority.

Boundaries

Clear limits on the mentoring relationship: no financial dealings with mentees, no recruitment of mentees into your own ventures, no romantic or sexual involvement, and no private one-to-one contact with a participant under 18.

Time

Realistic, sustained availability over a cohort. Intermittent involvement damages participants more than absence does.

Conflicts

Declaration of commercial interests that could be affected by your role, and withdrawal from decisions where they apply.

What mentoring is not

It is not pastoral counselling. It is not therapy. It is not spiritual direction, and it is not a substitute for a mentee's pastor. Mentors are trained to recognise when something belongs with a pastor, a safeguarding lead or a qualified professional, and to hand it over rather than hold it.

Verification

Registering interest is the beginning of a conversation, not an appointment. Full verification — references, background checks, doctrinal discussion, safeguarding training and role agreement — happens outside this website, in a protected process. Nothing you submit here appears publicly, and there is no public mentor directory.

Minors

Phase one programmes are for adults. Where any participant under 18 is involved in any VOG activity, adult one-to-one contact is prohibited without approved safeguarding controls, parental or guardian consent, and the procedures set out in our safeguarding policy.
